Quaker Lecture

The Quaker Lecture has now been given for three years.

The first Lecture at Yearly Meeting 2009, entitled "Kiwi Dragon", was given by Bill Willmott.
The 2010 Lecture entitled "Honouring the Other", was given at Yearly Meeting by Kevin Clements.

The 2011 Quaker Lecture was given by Tony Taylor at Yearly Meeting in Whanganui in late-May, and hopefully will also be presented at other centres. The Lecture was attended by 168 people, who responded enthusiastically to Tony's presentation.
This Lecture, entitled "Changing the Prison System", contains a detailed analysis of the prison system in New Zealand, with revealing comparisons to the practices and policies in other countries. It compares imprisonment and crime rates around the world, and makes a strong call for change within New Zealand.
